Modern Space Saving Mini Kitchen from Ensci

The Modern Space Saving Mini Kitchen from Ensci is great in places where the space is premium. The mini kitchen is quite an invention and will even let you enjoy keeping everything you need at your fingertips. The countertop is movable and slides pretty well to reveal the range, sink, storage, cupboards and even plenty of cabinets. Imagine, all this in just one kitchen unit. When you are not using it, the kitchen closes up, giving a minimalist, streamlined look and some much-needed organization to what is the most-used, most-chaotic room in the home.

Space Saving Solution : New Concept Table for Kitchen and Studio

The New Concept Table is a piece of contemporary furniture of Italian design, the innovation dreamed from everyone looking for space-saving solution. The table folded is a very compact decorative panel: the folding leg let the table close completely to a three centimeters board; it pops-up easily for additional working or dining surface. The table is wall mounted, always available there is no need to store it away. The foldable table can be realized with different finishes. The tabletop can be laminated, lacquered or wood, it may integrates with the existing furniture. The board could be painted as the wall colour and really disappear or could be a decorative element with design or imaginative shapes. This design comes in two models: kitchen and studio.

The “Kitchen model” has the FastLeg structures placed at 30 cm from the tabletop sides. This foldable table model allows to be comfortably seated on the table sides. This model is the solution when the table is mainly used for breakfast and for dining.

The “studio model” has the FastLeg structures placed at 10 cm from the tabletop sides. This collapsible table model is the solution for people that will use the table mainly while sitting on the front side like working with the computer, studying or drawing.

The new concept foldable table is based on FastLeg, a stainless steel patented mechanism. FastLeg is extremely compact, disappears in the table groove, and yet has a strong structure that allows the table to hold safely up to 300 pounds. FastLeg locks automatically the table when it reaches the working position and allows the closing by simply pulling a button.

Luna’s C30 Volvo Chair

The first place winner for the “Volvo For Life Design Awards,” designer Luis Luna’s C30 Volvo Chair is actually inspired by the back tail light on the Volvo C30… in fact, from the side you can even see where the light would be in the circular ottoman! Interesting and adaptable, the C30 Chair is built so that the ottoman and magazine rack disappear into the original chair design or can be easily pulled out to serve as complete lounge set. An amazing idea for a deck chair (especially for those with spacious and organically-design patio areas), the cleanly-design C30 Chair is clearly ideal for those who love to kick back in style, and the images taken with the cosmopolitan are a clear signal. Just don’t spill your drink, the C30 was designed sustainably from cardboard.

A different way to store your books : Book Porcupine by Holly Palmer

Designed by British designer Holly Palmer to sit beside your chair, this shelving unit has three different sizes of compartment to accommodate books of varying sizes. With 18 compartments in various sizes for storing your favourite books, the Book Porcupine is a product that is based on the idea of negative spaces. The compartments are the books negative representations made permanent in the structure of the unit. The name of the “Book Porcpine” is give in reference to its silhouette, the stout legs against the spines of the books sticking out at various angles and degrees.Unfortunately it costs £1750, I can say that this is a very high price especially in these hard economic times.

Mikhailov’s Edge Desk

Ontario, Canada-based designer Alexi Mikhailov developed the sleek and hyper-streamlined Edge Desk: a table design straight out of our ultramodern cyberprep fantasies. Especially geometric with powerful, curvilinear angles as its foremost features, the Edge Desk is clearly intended to tug at the heartstrings of progressive contemporary designers among us. The Edge Desk would be a fantastic, non-burdensome addition to a live/work space; especially, a wide, open loft area or a creative apartment office for your design and drafting efforts for example. Just imagine how productive you’d become if you sat down at a table as streamlined as the Edge Desk! Well, we can all dream at least. - Visit the wesite.

Velichko Velikov’s Elaxa Chair

Arguably one of the cooler chairs I’ve seen recently, Velichko Velikov’s Elaxa Chair is a fluid furniture piece that’s an amazing contemporary take on the classic Thonet bentwood chair designs. Developed simply from bentwood and metallic joints, seat and base, the Elaxa Chair took the rules developed by classic Prague and Tivoli chairs and really mixed things up with layers of bentwood and the use of that amazing reflective metal. Equally interestingly, the version of the Elaxa Chair developed from acrylic is a smart alternative that takes on a flair all its own for a completely different interior mood. Despite their modern appearance, the bentwood Elaxa Chairs could equally be a fantastic counterpart to a heavy, bold dining arrangement or a bright and approachable kitchenette.

The Hex Sofa by Nonsigner

Designed by “Nosigner” the Hex Sofa is a sofa which has a sharp shape like a mineral ore being inspired by hexagonal crystal. By being wrapped by plywood, it has a side table on the edge of the sofa and the sloped shoulders of the sofa work as armrests. When you have a sofa like this you can replace a side table, but I’d be careful because I might injure myself from time to time.

Skid Row by Philippe Malouin

Designed by Philippe Malouin the “Skid Row” will be part of his exhibition ‘unusual context’ for nextlevel gallery in paris. The chair is made from bent steel tubing, perforated birch balls, and elastic shock cord. When the user sits down, the wooden balls rearrange and contour the shape of his or her body. Philippe malouin’s work combines a certain element of humor, with both conceptual and functional language. To be honest when I first saw this piece of furniture I’ve thought that those balls are actually eggs.

The Slide Chair by Evan Dublin

Designed by Evan Dublin, this brightly-hued slide chair is sure to give any room a brilliant pop of color. The Slide Chair was built from a reclaimed slide component found at a new york city salvage yard, and offers a new playful outlook on the classic wing-back chair. The whimsical stature of the chair offers a great secluded area for reading and relaxing for children of all ages.

Here are a few words about this project from Evan Dublin :

When looking for inspiration for this project I began by searching for materials at salvage yards. I was looking for something reclaimed, some kind of inspiring material or component that would offer a problem for me to solve. As soon as I visited Build It Green in Astoria, Queens I saw something inspiring, a large yellow jungle gym slide. What I found most exciting about the slide was the playful qualities that we already associate with the form, color and material. I was drawn to the concept of domesticating the plastic slide into a useful object within the home. Through developing the concept I realized the form language lent itself to a wing-back chair. Instead of completely modernizing it I wanted to hold onto classic details that would translate the essence of a wing-back chair. Details like tufting, a patina finish on the hardware and class wood working for the legs. Jonas Workroom an upholstery craftsman out of midtown Manhattan offered to sponsor the project and did all of the upholstery for free.

This seats will rock, but never fall down

Well, I have to admit that this is a really cool idea. From the first time I’ve saw this design I’ve thought that these seats will be awesome in a bar, and everybody will come to play with them. Based on the old toy weebles, this seats will rock, but never fall down. The stool “headstand” is based upon the principal of a skipjack and offers dynamic seating. Headstand turns the common ludo-pawn upside down in a surprising manner due to a unusual balance point. Not only a stool but also an object. Finally would you go to a bar with this kind of stools ?
